Yellow Legs - Bird Carving by Steven WeaverCarve and paint a Miniature Yellow-Legs Bird sculpture under the tutelage of Steven Weaver, Wakeby Wildlife Studio in Sandwich. Accomplished carver and exhibiting artist, Mr. Weaver will return to Heritage and lead students of all levels through this project. You will begin with a rough miniature yellow-legs cutout with base that you will refine into the very essence of a Yellow-Legs! Final carving will stand 4 ¾” high and be complete with life-like glass eyes and wire legs.

Steven Weaver began carving in 1981 and over the last fifteen years has developed a style that is uniquely his own, heavily influenced by Cape Cod’s master carver A. E. Crowell. An award-winning carver, Mr. Weaver was chosen by Gov. Bill Weld to create a rendering of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’s Black Capped Chickadee for a display of all fifty State Birds. His carvings may be found in fine collections across the United States and in Europe and have been exhibited at The Ward Foundation Museum in Salisbury, MD, The Duxbury Art Complex, The Cahoon Museum of American Art as well as the Museum of Natural History.

A list of tools and supplies needed for this hands-on workshop will be furnished upon registration. Morning refreshments will be provided but please bring your our own bag lunch for this creative workshop! Mr. Weaver’s classes fill quickly so call today!
