Summer Family Fun Fridays Kick-Off Celebration

WHEN
Friday, July 09, 2010
11:00AM - 5:00PM
WHERE
Outdoor Concert Stage (Automobile Museum if raining), Parade Field

Begin your visit by setting out your blankets or chairs on a spot on the lawn to enjoy interactive family entertainment on the Outdoor Concert Stage. These hour-long performances have something to please everyone in the family, including puppet shows, dancing, comedy, storytelling, music and, in most cases, a mix of everything! After the performance, head over to the Parade Field to complete a craft or garden project. These hands-on projects allow your family to bring something special home to remember your visit to Heritage. While you’re there, get a temporary tattoo and play with giant games! Don’t forget to pick up a Family Treasure Hunt Passport at the Ticket Office, where you will be guided to a different museum ‘treasure’ each Friday and, after discovering this treasure, receive a stamp in your passport. Summer Family Fun Fridays are FREE with museum admission, registration is not required, and in case of inclement weather, all performances and activities will move indoors.

Friday, July 9
Performer: Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers
11am – 12pm on the Outdoor Concert Stage
"Everybody Loves Pirates" is the story of a young girl named Lucy and her goofy friend, Little Chucky. While fishing one day, the kids discover a treasure map and decide to set out on a quest to find their fortune. Unfortunately, they run into a group of bumbling pirates who try to thwart their efforts by stealing the treasure. Of course, it all works out in the end with some help from Chucky and Lucy's new ocean-dwelling friends, including Lobster Boy, Crabby and a wise Sea Monkey.

Project: Sailing Flags
12 – 5pm at the Parade Field
Sailors, even pirates, have created all kinds of flags for their ships. Now it’s your turn to create your own sailing flag to fly! Be sure to jump on the giant castle moon bounce, get a temporary tattoo, play giant games with the whole family, go on a treasure hunt, get your face painted and find the mystery museum object.
Passport Mystery Hint: Tie up the main sail.

Be sure to come on July 9th for a special Kick-Off Celebration! From 12 – 5pm we will feature a huge moon-bounce to jump on, face painting, giant games, animals, trail treasure hunts and a few surprises! Many community organizations and nonprofits will also be here to share programs and opportunities for families of all ages on Cape Cod. This event is in addition to all of the activities listed below for July 9, and is also free with museum admission.
