Create simple line arrangements in the Japanese manner using a few branches and flowers. Master floral designer Kaye Vosburgh will return to Heritage Museums & Gardens for the third season and teach the principals of Sogetsu Ikebana, an internationally recognized school of Japanese flower arranging. These classes are appropriate for the novice with step-by-step instruction or for the seasoned veteran, as advanced techniques will be demonstrated.
Kaye Vosburgh has studied, exhibited and taught in Massachusetts, New York, Japan and Ecuador. She is also a Master Judge in the Federated Garden Clubs and a First Grade Ikebana Teacher in the Sogetsu School. She was a Featured Speaker at Creative Flower Arrangers of the Americas in Orlando February 2005 and has entered the New England Flower Show for the past several years, earning the Creativity Award in 1997 and the Garden Club of America Zone 1 Bowl for Aesthetic Use of Plant Material in 2002 and the Fenwick Medal in 2006.
At each class, students will make two arrangements. The teacher will provide individual instruction as well as group demonstrations. Students are asked to bring scissors, pruners, two kenzans (pin holders), cutting bowl, bucket, grocery store paper bag, two containers (preferably something low and flat-bottomed like a pie plate) and enough branches for two arrangements (a detailed materials list will be provided upon registration). All plant material will be provided. Scissors, kenzans and a variety of containers will be available for purchase.
Registration deadline: March 20
Fee for each session: Members $35, Non-Members $45
