Volunteers Help Heritage Move Forward
This year is sure to be a memorable one for Heritage Museums & Gardens. The institution’s first capital campaign, Foundation’s for the Future, is reaching its final phases as is the completion of several major enhancements: The J.K. Lilly III Automobile Museum renovation with its elegant function room, stone patio and expanded collections storage; our new water feature the Flume Fountain, and Hidden Hollow: A Nature Discovery Center will all be debuted. We hope that you will be a part of this exciting new era!
In the spirit of growth, the Volunteer Program continues to expand with many opportunities to get involved at Heritage. This program will be coordinated by Public Programs Director, Michele Insley Wilkins, and Visitor Services Managers, Gail Slattery and Rhonda Briggs. Heritage has both date-specific and on-going volunteer positions to fit every schedule, a variety of interests and to support many of Heritage’s operational needs.
To learn more about each of these positions and how you can make a difference, and to meet staff and fellow volunteers, please join us for a
Volunteer Reception on Wednesday, April 14 from 2-4pm in the North Wing Gallery of the Art Museum.
To RSVP for the reception, additional questions or to volunteer for a program, please contact either Michele at 508-888-3300 ext. 102 or Gail and Rhonda at 508-888-3300 ext. 120 or email volunteers@heritagemuseums.org or retail1@heritagemuseums.org.
The Volunteer Program is vital to the success of Heritage Museums & Gardens’ programs. Everyone here at Heritage is grateful for your past and future contributions! We look forward to seeing you at the reception in a couple of weeks and throughout a fun-filled 2010 season!
Following are a few of our 2010 volunteer opportunities:
The Enchanted Garden Tour - this year's tour will be held on June 30 and offers a peek into the private sanctuaries on Penzance Point, Woods Hole!
Holidays at Heritage - celebrate the holidays at Heritage during this multi-day event when we will need all hands on deck - decorationing, taking photos, driving a golf cart, leading craft activities, greeting performers or even portraying ol' St. Nick!
Education Programs - we are always happy to have assistance with the many wonderful Education programs we offer throughout the year at Heritage. If you love working with children, we have a place for you - either in the Community (our Docent program) or for activities on-site!
Public Programs Assistant and Events - help plan, promote, prepare for and implement various special events and programs.
Gardening - help the Horticulture Department keep the grounds beautiful by planting, weeding, deadheading and potting!
Ambassador Program - Love to talk to groups? We need volunteers to go out into the community, and to meet with civic groups, and talk about Heritage. We will provide the presentation materials.
